I. Title of Program or
Issue:
|
Packaging Education Program
|
|
A. Situational Statement:
|
The severity of solid waste issues is well
documented in the United States. In Ohio, the
passage of Amended Substitute House Bill 592, in
1988, radically altered waste management practice,
and has put forth new challenges and oppor tunities
for local governments. Through the creation of
Solid Waste Management Policy Boards, solid waste
planning and implementation has become a necessary
and highly visible activity at the local level.
The individual contributes to the waste stream at
all levels of product production and consumption.
A knowledge of packaging serves to improve consumer
decision making in product purchase and in product
package disposal.
|
|
B. Description/Educational Objectives:
|
The primary purpose of the packaging education
program is to create a more informed consumer. To
