Ohio Management Systems Evaluation Area
|
|
A. Situational Statement:
|
In response to the president's Water Quality
Initiative, the USDA and cooperating agencies and
universities initiated the Midwest Initiative and
five Management Systems Evaluation Areas (MSEA).
Ohio was awarded one of the MSEA projects which
emphasizes research, evaluation, and technology
transfer related to agricultural impacts on ground
water quality.

B. Description/Educational Objectives:
|
This program provides an overview of the Midwest
Initiative, the Ohio MSEA, and the research and
extension activities associated with the Ohio
project, as well as the other four MSEA's.
Specific topics:
- Midwest Initiative
- Overview of Ohio's MSEA
- Cooperating agencies and universities
- Objectives of Ohio's MSEA
- Overview of the research activities of
Ohio's MSEA
- Overview of the Extension activities of
Ohio's MSEA
- Products and results from the project
that will be applicable to other parts of Ohio
and the Midwest.

C. Suggested Time Required for Program; Time
of Year:
|
60 to 90 minutes, but program can be tailored to
specific audiences and times; anytime, but try for
winter or spring
|
|
D. Audience and Level of Offering:
|
This program can be offered at any of several
levels (county, multi- county, district, state) for
audiences with at least an eighth-grade reading
level.
|
|
E. Teaching Methods, Resources, Costs:
|
- Verbal informal presentations supported by
slides and overheads. Some handout materials
provided.
- Depending on audience and length of program,
minor costs for copying.

|
