A. Situational Statement:

Members of public boards are often overwhelmed with increasing public demands and often lack the capacity to serve to their greatest potential.

B. Description/Educational Objectives:

To provide members of public boards with the capacity to successfully manage their responsibilities. The following teaching modules are available:

  1. Recruitment, Retention and Training
  2. Successful Board Meetings
  3. Professional Presentations
  4. Financial Issues
  5. Funding Sources
  6. Strategic Planning
  7. Relationships

C. Suggested Time Required for Program; Time of Year:

Each module requires 2 hours; Any time of the year.

D. Audience and Level of Offering:

Group size: maximum - 30, minimum - 15

E. Teaching Methods, Resources, Costs:

Lectures, slides, overheads, handouts, videos and group exercises are used in teaching. Costs include copying of material and specialist travel, plus any facility and refreshment expenses.
